Why Clay Field Therapy?

Play and Art are a child’s natural language. Clay Field Therapy uses art and clay to support children to both express and find solutions for challenges, without relying on verbal expression. Art therapy and Play therapy provide an opportunity for children to express themselves without relying on the use of words.

Clay Field Therapy may assist with:

  • meeting developmental needs

  • supporting regulation

  • processing traumatic events

  • processing birth or developmental trauma

Clay Field Therapy originated in Germany 40 years ago. This therapy uses a box of clay, warm water and a sponge. The focus is on the process of creation rather than on producing a finished piece of art. Clay Field Therapy focuses on solutions and healing.

Sessions with children/young people (from 2 to 18 years of age) begin with a telehealth session with caregivers, to better understand how to support the young person and their family.

Children/young people sessions are held in person in Mount Barker, SA.
